Why Add the IR Module to Your P3
CO₂ lasers excel at cutting and engraving wood, acrylic, and fabric — but the 10,600nm wavelength does not absorb efficiently into bare metals. Infrared fiber lasers at 1064nm are absorbed by metal surfaces, enabling deep, permanent marks on anodized aluminum, stainless steel, copper, brass, and coated metals.
With this module installed, the P3 becomes a dual-capability system: CO₂ for organic materials and IR for metals. Swap the module in and out in minutes — no tools required — and return to CO₂ cutting without any reconfiguration.
The nanosecond pulse width (4ns) and high peak power (up to 65 KW) produce fine detail marks at speed, making it suitable for production-volume product personalization, part marking, and awards engraving.
Compatible Materials
The 5W IR module marks and engraves: anodized aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, copper, titanium, and coated or painted metal surfaces. It is not designed for cutting or for non-metal materials.
