A Teflon sheet is a non-stick, heat-resistant sheet placed between the press platen and the transfer to prevent scorching and sticking. It protects both the garment and the platen surface while also producing a more even finish on the transfer.

Heat-resistant tape (also called sublimation tape) is used to secure transfer paper to substrates during pressing, preventing shifting that could cause blurry or misaligned results. It peels off cleanly after pressing without leaving residue.

A silicone foam pad placed under the garment on the lower platen helps create even pressure across uneven surfaces like seams, zippers, and pockets. This is especially important for achieving consistent, professional-quality transfers on finished garments.

A heat press pillow is a padded insert placed inside a garment during pressing to lift the transfer area away from the back of the shirt. This prevents ghost images on the back of the fabric and improves pressure uniformity on the print area.

Use a non-contact infrared thermometer or a heat press temperature strip to verify that your platen is reaching and maintaining the correct temperature. Regular calibration checks ensure consistent results and help diagnose issues with uneven transfers.

When pressing dark or opaque transfers, use a sheet of clean parchment paper or a Teflon sheet on top to prevent the transfer from sticking to the platen. Avoid using newsprint or regular paper as they can leave marks or transfer ink.
