Pressing Instructions

In order to begin the process of sublimation printing onto metal, please follow the instructions below:

  1.  Remove the plastic cover from the metal.
  2. Place a Nomex felt on the base of the heat press (this is an important step).
  3. Place a silicon sheet on top of the Nomex felt.
  4. Place the imaged sublimation paper face up in the press and hover the press over it for 10-20 seconds to remove any moisture (this is recommended).
  5. Remove the imaged sublimation paper from the heat press and place it on a table, with the imaged paper face-up.
  6.  Place the metal on top of the paper with the printable side of the metal face down, and tape both metal and paper together with heat tape.
  7.  Flip the metal and paper over and place it in the heat press with the paper on top.
  8. Cover with polyester fabric (this is important).
  9. Press at 400F for 65-120 seconds using light pressure (time depending on the size of the metal. Please refer to our downloadable instructions for more accurate time.
  10. Please remove the polyester fabric and allow it to cool before removing the paper.

Note: Recommended cooling on a cold surface for 120-180 seconds (2-3mins).
IMPORTANT: be careful not to let the paper shift across the surface of the object, or you may create a “ghost” image.
WARNING: Metal is extremely hot after pressing, DO NOT handle with bare hands.
NOTE: Extra care should be taken when handling the metal hot. The metal is vulnerable to damage while it is hot. Do not use a Teflon sheet when pressing
